Amongst it all, you will find so many hiking and camping options, and it could make your head spin.
But once you get out into the wilderness, everything settles down, and the destination becomes much less important than the journey itself.

Finally, we wanted to include some options for those adventurous souls who like to travel off the beaten path.
While Whatcom and Skagit Counties are filled with activities for the whole family, there are also many options for those looking to push their limits.
Mount Baker towers over Whatcom County and provides a world-class ski experience during the summer. The mountain is packed with day hikes but if you want to take it a little further, consider summiting this iconic mountain on a glacial hike.
If you’re an extreme sports enthusiast missing that winter powder, you might want to check out Mount Galbraith’s world-class mountain biking. Just make sure you have all the mountain biking gadgets you need to have the best experience possible.
If it’s a family adventure you’re looking for, the San Juan Islands might be just the spot. Check out our blog post about all the things to do on Lummi Island or explore lesser-known destinations like Cypress or Vendovi Islands! And don’t forget about the whale watching tours if you want to see orca whales and other marine life in their favorite habitat.
You can easily take a ferry to the islands, but consider flying with San Juan Airlines, if you want a beautiful and unique experience!
If it’s a nighttime adventure you’re feeling, we highly recommend the Bellingham Bioluminescence Paddle. Just try to line it up with a new moon for the best experience!
